Door Closer Speed Adjustment. Sweep or swing speed the speed that the door closes from full open position to between 3 and 10 degrees of full closed position. Turn the screw counterclockwise to make the door close faster. Move the long connecting pin into the forward hole for winter or rear hole for springtime of the closer each time you change the storms or screens.

Latch speed the speed the door finishes closing in the last 3 to 10 degrees.
Customers often refer to this as the door closer pressure since it is the adjustment that makes sure the door holds shut. Start with no more than 1 8 of a turn. The latching speed the last few inches of the door closing to latch properly. Loosen the adjustment screw 1 2 full rotations with a screwdriver if your door is closing too slowly.
